End of the Line
Uploaded: October 01, 2010 03:06:53
This section of track, in my hometown is the end of the line for what was once the L&N Railroad. It stops because there is no rail bridge across the Tennessee River. When I was in high school, I lived in another town about 20 miles away. A favorite pass time was to run along beside the middle of the train at night (as it had slowed down through town) and grab the handrail and "hop the train." The area in the photo is where we would get off. Now, I can only think now how dangerous it was, but it seemed like fun at the time. We would wave at cars and other stupid stuff. This all came to a halt, when one night a buddy of mine "popped up" to wave at a car as we passed through an intersection. The car was the local police. Ouch!
