Mitch, you cracked me up with this one -- what a great image!! #5295910Mitch Spence January 05, 2008
OK, ta da! I will announce what this is. It's spider webs. Yes, Dianna, yuk, but they do build them here around the lake at sometimes supersonic speed it seems. :) #5296592Lorraine A. Cook January 05, 2008
Hubby was a letter carrier for 30 years....I MUST show this to him, Mitch!(LOL)<:)) #5296636Sandra R. Alvey January 05, 2008
Whoa. I thought Stillwater mail ran slow. LOL! Great find and so well seen and captured Mitch! #5298204Nikki McDonald January 06, 2008
Did you put this in EOD or Catch-All, Mitch? I think I would have tried EOD first--I just love the simplicity, lines and repetition in the overall composition as well as the interest in the spider webs. I particularly like that there is room for more boxes--that additional space offsets what could have been too much symmetry and adds to the design, I think. Congratulations on the Editors Pick. #5299664David Pratt January 06, 2008
Talk about snail mail! Terrific image Mitch! This is outstanding! #5300256Mitch Spence January 06, 2008
Thanks, Lorraine, Sandi, Nikki, and Dave. Lorraine, if your husband was a rural carrier, he'll certainly relate to this. Lots of "stuff" ends up in and around those boxes sometimes that shouldn't be there. And they are a wonderful bunch, those carriers, I must say. :) Nikki, no, once again, it wasn't in EOD. Although you're probably right about the category, oddly, I put it in details and macro. #5300618Vicki L. Filippin January 08, 2008
What a fabulous find, Mitch! I concur with all the design comments that Nikki made.Mitch Spence January 10, 2008

Thanks again, to everyone. Your congratulations warm my heart. #5371820Carol Teal January 21, 2008
This is such a great image Mitch! So funny with all the spider webs...seems more like a slow month, not just a slow day! :D And you aren't going to believe this, but just as I was starting to write this, I saw something out of the corner of my eye and it was a SPIDER crawling on my computer desk by my mouse! I never see spiders in the house; maybe he crawled right out of your photo! LOL I killed him, as I hate the things and am quite afraid of them too. Anyway, I love this image and a HUGE congrats on your well-deserved POTD!! #5371821Mitch Spence January 21, 2008
That's funny, Carol. Maybe your spider recognized the webs in the photo and was heading for those. :)I'm not really crazy about spiders either. I can tolerate the little ones, but it's those great big furry wolf-spidery ones that pretty much make me shudder. #5372257David Pratt January 21, 2008
COngratulations Mitch! #5372940Colleen Farrell January 21, 2008

Hi, Laura. Thanks much for coming to look. I appreciate your comment very much. #5474584Steven E. Ray February 21, 2008
I agree with those above... this was a super find. Strong paradox. What is to be open by human has been webbed by creature. What is new is webbed as to look old. All in order but some are missing. Very interesting photo and results in a study of it. Love it. #5527415Mitch Spence February 22, 2008
