---
I woke up this morning to an email from a friend who had just been diagnosed with ALS--Lou Gehrig's Disease.
----
My head is reeling and my heart is still sinking.
----
She is actually a long-time close friend of a friend and we have never actually met. But I immediately "connected" with her--we have an amazing array of people, places, and "things" in common.
-----
Her story, even up to this point, is unbelievably horrific and her life fascinating--the stuff of SEVERAL (unwritten) novels, as only she could write. Her talent is endless, so I hope she writes like crazy while she CAN!
-----------
I found this almost symbolic planter in a hidden alley way in Kensington, Philadelphia, while on a news photography assignment.

Don't know about ALS but do know about life threatening disease. Attitude counts and you can never give up!! Can't tell when a discovery will provide relief or slow down the disease. Gos bless her. #10153194Kathleen S. Young May 29, 2012

My heart is saddened with your friend's diagnosis. My husband died with ALS in 2009. I along with Tammy cringe when I hear someone is facing this disease. Prayers for you and both of your friends. #10160214Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
