Rare MicroPygmy Elephants [Contest Winner Pool February 2010 ]
Uploaded: February 27, 2010 08:46:14
We were lucky enough to capture this little-known and rarely seen species on the Serengeti in Tanzania. Our driver said he had seen them only twice before in his 30 years of safari experience. They live secretively among the scattered rock outcroppings (kopjes), feeding on small plants and roots. They are hunted by hyenas and occasionally by leopards.
First in my Elephantastic series.
