Shirley: I dealt with Picturestock.com off and on 3 years ago. No sales, so I decided to cancel them out. Glad I did. I checked with several phographers, pro's too. I found out P.Stock was just talk only. Save your money, consult with some pro photographers for advice on stock companies sales!! Hope this is helpful.

Beverly J., thanks, it has made up my mind for me to cancel my deal with them. What bothers me is they have a lot of my images. Did you get any flack from them? I wonder if they sell our pictures and we don't hear about it. I've been with them for 4 years now and nothing's happened. I have read somewhere it can take up to 3 years for stock agencies to sell the pictures but that seems like a long time to me. Thanks.

Shirley: Yes I did get my photographs back. But they scan all our photos to their archives, so they always have them on file. Which means to me, yes, they could sell our photos and we would NOT KNOW IT, unless we just happened to see our photo's out there somewhere, probably unlikely. No, no flack from them. They did use 2 of my pics on their brochures to publicize their info. I was not informed prior to this. Not much I could do about it after. Mostly, it is them wanting us to buy their address labels, press passes, and so on. They make bucks this way. I agree with time frame on selling images, the best things take time. A lot has to do with the Right Connections. Hope this helps.

Beverly, well I just sent in a request to PictureStock requesting them to withdraw all my photos so we will see what happens. About 7 or 8 years ago I sold one picture and got it on a cover of a magazine and also one to another outfit and got it in a calander. But I quit sending in my pictures as we moved and had other things to contend with. To make a long story short, I'm back to taking pictures again and though it's still more a hobby than anything else I hope to start trying to sell some more pictures. Would upload my cover photo but still learning how to on the computer. Hope to eventully enter some pictures in the contest and get a web site at BetterPhoto, but I have to conquer my computer first. Again, Thanks for your input.

I have to agree with Gary. It seems like for every way there is to make money, someone comes up with a dis-honest or immoral way to cheat the system. We have to be ever-vigilant and cognizant of these schemes, and tread carefully through the quagmire of the business world with both eyes open....(And our checkbooks closed!)

Well, since I posted that I've been doing some searching. I cannot find out ANYTHING about this company, anywhere. They don't show up in any business listings I can find. They have this nice little BBB Button on their home page that opens an information sheet about them being a member in good standing, but try going to the BBB web site itself and searching for their company - guess what - can't be found. On the USA BBB site you get a message telling you the address and nothing else and referring you to the Canadian BBB. On the Canadian BBB site guess what - can't find them. How can a company with "world-wide" distribution not exist in any business databases anywhere? They also have a nice little "Internetsecure Certified Merchant" button on their home page. Click on it and you get "PICTURE STOCK is currently NOT a Certified InternetSecure Merchant." From their website: "I am really skeptical about sending my images to an agency I have never heard of before. How can you assure me that you are a legitimate picture agency? If our excellent reputation, honesty, integrity and proven track record are not enough to convince you, then simply call or e-mail us with any questions or concerns you may have. One of our associates will be more than happy to assist you. We have been in business since 1997 and are members in good standing with the Better Business Bureau. We want you to feel absolutely comfortable when dealing with us. If you want to test the waters and try us out on a trial basis, simply send in the minimum picture submission requirement of 25 of your best images to see how they sell on the worldwide market. This way, you can see for yourself exactly how we do business. You will need to purchase a 'Photographers Registration Kit' first. We are quite confident that you will not be disappointed with our agency. Keep in mind that more than half of our photographers were referred to us from existing photographers." Sounds great - now prove it. Looks like picture.com all over again. I think I'm going to be ill........ I think I'll give up photography and dedicate myself to exposing scam artists.
