You'll have to do this research on your own I think. You should check out all three cameras on the digital camera review sites (like steve's, dpreview.com and others - just google digital camera reviews). If you want a video camera - buy a video camera. If you want a still camera, buy a still camera. There is rarely one that does both really well!

Ok, I'm taking some time to answer this so if you're checking this soon, I'm going to look up a reference. So far, I would go for the Powershot Pro 1 or the Konica Minolta DiMAGE A200. dpreview.com That is a very good site. Check it out. It doesn't have a full review of the S2IS but from what I can tell, it's not up to the other two. If you like macro photography though, many people have commented on it's abilities. I haven't checked out the other two yet in that aspect but I'll see what turns up.

Ok, well, both the Powershot Pro 1 and the Konica Minolta DiMAGE A200 both look pretty good. You shouldn't really look for video quality in a digital still camera, but I guess the KM has 30 frames per second video while the Canon has 15. I know I'd rather take a picture since it's easier to look at a picture than it is to put a cd in a watch a somewhat low quality movie. I'd rather have a picture of a big event than a low quality video. It seems like dpreview.com complains more about the DiMAGE than the Powershot Pro 1 but their main complaint about the Canon is the startup time and how the lens doesn't function mechanically, but electronically. I looked in Popular Photography & Imaging from July 2004 and while they don't have the A200, they have the A2 and the 8MP Canon. Something that you might also consider is looking at the Canon Digital Rebel (aka 300D). I see that the Powershot Pro 1 is just above $600 on bhphotovideo.com and the Digital Rebel is $749 with a lens. That will give you a lot better images than the Powershot Pro and greater flexibility, although it doesn't have a movie mode because SLR cameras don't do that. I will agree, if you want videos, you should look to a camcorder and not a digital camera, if not for quality, then for easier viewing (referring to when I said that you would have to view the movie on the computer screen). Hope this helps. Check out dpreview.com I will say once again because it's wonderful and is very worth looking at.

My only complaint about my Powershot Pro is that I didn't do enough research before buying it. Had I known I couldn't use other lenses on it, I would have gone with the Digital Rebel.
