Buying a Camera Bag I have been looking for awhile for a new camera bag. It is quite overwhelming. I am going to Crater Lake and down the coast of California. Can't Wait. I have a Think Tank Airport bag which is amazing. It is just too big to take on the trail. And, there is not easy access to my camera. I have a 400 mm lens that I am taking also. I wondered if anyone can recommend a bag. I would have a DLSR camera body, 100mm lens, 50mm lens and a Canon 24-105. Pus my 400 mm lens. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

Jane I Bought a bag from Amazon Basics and I am very happy with the quality and the price was very reasonable, it is over a year and half old and looks as good as the day I bought it. Might want to look into them.

I just purchased a Lowepro backpack as a replacement for my giant Canon bag. Although I'm not sure how your equipment would fit in the particular style I bought, they did have bigger ones. I am absolutely in love with the backpack style vs the bag. I can pack my camera with my favorite 200mm lens plus have room for two extra smaller lenses and a speedlight. There also a ton of other pockets for accessories plus my tripod straps on pretty easily as well. I also love that the straps can adjust so I can choose to wear it messenger style, making it easier to grab lenses when I need to change them. (Perfect when going from lens to lens while hiking). You can definitely get some great deals online but I would recommend, if you're able to, to check out your local camera or big box electronics store that sells bags and bring your camera and equipment that you will be carrying. Then look for the deal online. Best Buy allowed me to bring in my equipment and try out their bags to see which one was the best fit for me before purchasing. Good luck!

Carrie thanks so much for your detailed suggestion. I will be checking out the Lowepro bags. Great suggestion about taking my equipment into Best Buy. Would not have thought about doing that. Thank again!

I'm looking at the Ape Case back pack. Had a LowePro at one time. Had removable padded separators. Was big enough that you could fit a 400mm 2.8 in it by adjusting the separators. But eventually the zipper gave out. Don't think it was really able to handle the weight of that size of a lens. Then got a Tamrac. Think that one was a little less than a Lowepro. Was also big enough for a 400 if you adjusted the panels. But it fit a little better in the Lowepro because of how they had the velcro for the panels inside. But the Tamrac had better inside pockets for other stuff. Now that zipper has given out, I'm going to try the Ape Case back pack. https://www.adorama.com/apnacpro2000.html

I love my Peak Design "Everyday Backpack"... I got it during their Kickstarter campaign, so it cost less then vs. now. But it is extremely versatile, very accessible (from both sides, plus top) with a fully configurable interior, with several pockets/slots/pouches. It can hold my Canon 200-400 tele, plus 3-5 other lenses (depending on which ones I choose) + camera and other related accessories, plus a laptop/ipad. It is a sharp, clean-looking bag; I use it to carry all my gear on over-seas trips. (It does not, however, hold my tripod, though it could hold a smaller tripod, I think.) It comes in a 20L and 30L capacity - though right now I cannot remember which size I actually got...!
