Promaster 300c studio light blowing fuse

I just bought a "gently used" Promaster 300c studio kit with two flash units. It doesn't have really good instructions. So, while experimenting to figure out how it works, I took a few shots and then out of the blue it fired on its own and blew the fuse. What the heck did I do wrong!?

Probably nothing you did. The firing on it's own could come from the connection of the cable not being snug enough. A strobe that is on will often fire off when you first connect the pc cord. One that doesn't fit quite right can make it fire if moving cause the pin in male connection to temporary loose contact with the sides of the female connection. Can you isolate the problem to the one flash? My camera developed a problem with firing off a flash continuously. Like a rapid fire strobe light. The hot shoe and the pc outlet.
The fuse blowing could be something wrong with a few things. The fuse, something in the flash. Make sure the blown fuse is the same as the fuse in the other flash. And see if the good fuse in the other flash gets blown in the self firing flash.
