monitor calibration snag

when calibrating my monitor I get an error message that states "the calibrated white luminance of the display is too low - your adjustment did not achieve the desired target value." Can anyone help me with what this means and what I should do about it?

  Hi Tara,

It is unfortunate that no one has responded. If you are still having problems calibrating your monitor, can I ask what kind of monitor and what kind of calibration device you are using? If the device is a Spyder or other kind of external calibration system, it may be as simple as making sure the monitor is set to the factory defaults before going through calibration, but not sure without more info.

thanks for responding, Mick. I JUST got a new computer, so I let it go for the time being. Now I want to try to calibrate this monitor so I'll have to see how that goes. I hope it's not responding poorly to the room light because there isn't a way to change it.
