Canon 50D Exposure Compensation when I use exposure compensation, I initially see the bar showing how much I have set to over or under exposure but as soon as I press the shutter button, the bar disappears from the screen. the plus/minus symbol is still in the display but there is nothing in the display to indicate the amount of over or under exposure. also in the image properties when I upload to my computer, there is nothing indicating that I intentionally over or underexposed. am I not doing something right or is there something wrong with my camera? thanks. The display temporarily disappears when you take a picture. I'm not clear if that's what you're talking about. And a picture that hasn't been resaved, looking at the properties just from right clicking, you have a general and a summary option. And the summary will have a simple and advanced option. You looking at one and not the other? Also, any resaved picture will loose all the exposure info.

The display temporarily disappearing ... that is what I am talking about so nothing is wrong with my camera. As to properties ... I take photos in RAW and then open them in Photoshop Elements. then I right click and select Show Properties. it is in this window that I cannot find where it shows me that I used exposure compensation. thanks

Use the program for converting raw files to look at exposure info.

Nevia: After you convert the photos to TIF or JPEG, you can find the compensation data with Photoshop but I cannot find it with Elements. This program does not seem to have a DATA item like Photoshop does. The Canon software that came with the camera can certainly show that data (called Properties). Peter www.peterkburian.com
