Learning the Light Meter I have the JTL LM-8 Digital Light Meter. My 4 strobes are Photogenic PL1000DR. My camera is Canon 30D. I connect the sync cord from camera to strobe light. I am using the RPS Studio Wireless Shutter Release. When the strobe goes off, it fires twice in quick succession. My meter reading is logical, but I wonder why the strobes go off twice. If this is wrong, what can I do to correct this. I'm assuming it has something to do with my remote, because when I use the self timer, that doesn't happen. However, I like using the remote, because it's quicker & easier.

Think it's something your camera is doing. Your remote isn't connected to the lights. It's like your camera is trying to do the red eye reduction with the strobes. But I always thought that is a feature that only works with dedicated hot shoe flashes, or pop ups. I guess there's a possibility that the remote is sending a signal that the strobes pick up. Is it radio signal or infra red signal that the remote works on?

Well, I was almost asleep last night & it hit me. I had my camera on continuous shooting. So I tried it on single shooting mode & now it works correctly. Also, to answer your question, it is an infra red signal. Thanks for the input. Pam
