Nikon D200 Color LCD on/off

I have used my Nikon D200 with all my lenses since I bought it a year ago with the back color LCD on. I keep 2 batteries in it all the time and have never had an issue with using the LCD to compose my images. This means I never had the reason to turn off this color LCD and use the eye piece. NOW for some reason the color LCD does not come on when I turn the camera on. The LCD does work as it lets me review my images, and use the menu. But I will be darned if I can find anywhere in the manual(s) HOW to turn the color LCD on/off. Can anyone help me with this. Thank you in advance.

The D200 does not have a live view through the LCD, it can only be used to review pictures already taken. Perhaps you are thinking of another camera?

D300, maybe? For the D300 you have to select live view by 1st turn the release mode dial to "LV", then fully press the shutter button to raise the mirror and open the shutter curtains. (pp. 79-90 of the instruction manual).
