Image Stabilazation with a monopod

Image Stabilization does not work while mounted on a tripod, is there a way to overcome this as a mono pod is not that stable.

Perhaps. it's not the monopod's or even the IS len's fault. It might just be the photographer.

Try fully extending the monopod and mount the camera. Extend the 'pod outward at a slight angle, adjust the camera orientation, rest the camera on your face and use your two legs [and body] to form a make-shift TRIPOD.

Depending on the shoot, you might want to forget the monopod and use the Chain System presented by one of the BP Pros. Sorry, I don't remember his name - do a search on Monopods.
