Other Lens

I like the camera body I have (auto settings for when I'm lazy or just want to take quick shots and manual for when I want to or have time to set up the shots). The camera came with a 35-80 lens, and I'm wondering what other lenses I should be sondiering, if any, and what kind of filters I should consider (if any) for B&W photography. I'm going on a long trip in October and I plan to take lots of photos - architecture, landscape, etc. - mostly outdoors. Any suggestions would be welcome. Also, I would like to get a relatively inexpensive tripod that will pack easily.

An ideal 2nd lens would be a 70-200 or 80-200 telephoto zoom. Filters for b&w are yellow, orange, and red, with red giving you the most contrast, with dark skies, etc.
