What is the best format to scan and store slidles
I want to store slidles and pictures what is the best format to use?

Scan and store them as TIF's. Be sure the scanner is returning TIF's. Look around on my site, as I do a lot of scanning.

It's really a matter of personal preference and experience. I store mine in .jpg's. But I've heard that if you can then store them as both .tif's and .jpg's. .tif's don't quite have the resolution of a .jpg but everytime you open a .jpg your file will lose a little resolution. So over time, a LOT OF TIME, you may see image degradation. Thanks Chris

Jpg's are smaller files and will not fill up as much space on your hard drive. They will e-mail faster but WILL degrade especially when saved multiple times. I scan a lot too and save tiff's but I trim my inventory periodically to save space. That's the great part about scanning slides (or neg's)...the slide is your "backup file" and if you need another copy you can just scan it again.
