New Advanced Point and Shoot

Looking for the best advanced point and shoot camera. Want something with a good zoom and advanced features like fisheye ... etc..

Any suggestions. Looked at Panasonic and Olympus. Does Canon have any ?

Thanks

You'll find a new discussion thread recently here in the forums, about 5 topics down from this one (as of today), on this very topic (recommending the Canon G11), as well as blog posts here at BP from BP staff...
I'm not aware of an advanced point and shoot with a fisheye lens, but some might offer a fisheye accessory, perhaps.

You might check out DPReview..they review everything new and probably offer comparisons.

I have tested four of the best compact cameras with built-in lens

The best bet would be the Canon Powershot G12

If you must have something much
smaller, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5

My husband Jack (also a BP member) has the G12 and likes it very much.

I have a new "point and shoot" that offers several different options for shooting, including Manual, AF for Macro, Zoom Macro, and all the other special options you can find on the bigger DSLRs. I'm quite happy with it. It has up to 48X zoom, but that is quite "noisy." It is good for photo close ups and you can manipulate your photos in surprisingly different ways. I am on a trip in which I did not want to bring all the heavy equipment, so bought this new Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZX7, which also shoots in HD (stills and movies). You'll have to get a couple of batteries and 2 or 3 flash drives if you are doing lots of movies or stills. The pictures are quite good and I will be uploading some (macros, etc.) for this month's contest. This is a brand new Panasonic Lumix series, but you can get it a the usual places. If you are interested, please email me at nmrvirginearth@me.com and I'll tell you more. Good luck with your search.

Sorry, but that is a Panasonic Lumix, ZS7 in my previous response. Sorry for the typo.
