Adobe PhotoShop Album vs. PaintShop Photo Album
I'm trying to manage my hard disk space by burning photos to CD and cataloging them in PhotoShop Album. Maybe I haven't tried hard enough yet, but I'm finding PhotoShop Album somewhat difficult to use. I have a demo copy of PaintShop Photo Album that I have not yet installed. So, I wondered if anybody has opinions or advice about using either of those products for my purposes. I'd appreciate any suggestions as I'm really pinched for disk space and have to get this under control.

Hi Debra. Get the demo version of ACDSee!! Then, when you see how easy it is compared with the Photoshop offering buy it for $50. Seriously, I am a great fan of ACDSee, it was the first of the archiving/indexing programs and is still (IMHO) the best. Buy a bigger hard drive :-) When you archive off the CD:- Make at least two copies of each disk on different brands of media. Don't burn at maximum speed 4x is quite fast enough. Don't use cheap, no-name disks. Store your disks properly, cool, dark, dry place. As a last backup, get proper silver-halide prints made of your real 'keepers', write the filename on the back and put them in a conventional album. Get them out when your kids come round with their kids. Hours of fun and embarrassment:-) As with all these things, your mileage may vary. Best regards DC

Hello Dave, Thanks very much for all the great suggestions! I'll download ACDSee and try it out. The first time I tried to locate a photo in PhotoShop Album, it gave me the wrong disk name! That is scary! I guess I'm not being overly paranoid, then in making two copies of everything. I hadn't thought of using two brands of media, though. That's a great idea. I will get a bigger hard drive some day, but I thought I'd better have a better system in place before I do. Thanks again, I really appreciate it! Regards, Debra
