I AM READING A BOOK ON CLOSE UP PHOTOGRAPHY.AND IT SEEMS THEY ARE PRESS THE USE OF EXTENSION TUDES. MY QUESTION IS-- I AM USING A SIGMA MACRO 105MM/F 2.8 LENS [AUTO FOCUS] AND A CLOSE UP LENS.DO I REALLY NEED TO GET EXTENSION TUBES WITH THE SET UP I AM USING. THANK YOU ANDY SICH

Your lens and close up diopter will give you extreme close up capability and should serve you well. The addition of extension tubes will enable even closer focusing, if needed. Extension tubes are mostly used on telephoto lenses in the 200-300mm range to enable the lens to focus in a close up fashion, closer than it's minimum focusing range.
