Contact sheet is when you lay negatives directly on photo paper, then expose the paper under an enlarger, then develope it. You get a sheet of images of all the negatives. It came from doing black and white, but if somebody makes a sheet of a whole bunch of digital images the size of 35mm negatives, they call that a contact sheet also.
