Card Error: What to Do? I have a card of 64MB and the camera says "card error" when I try to review the pictures, I can't continue taking pictures, and my card reader appears unable to read the card. Are my over 200 pictures from Disney during this week lost? Where can I send the card to try to save the pictures? I am desperate ... I really will love to be able to see those pictures!!! Thanks!!!

Sometimes that happens when I turn my camera on, which is why I don't like to leave things on the card. If you have a card reader hooked up to your computer, you may be able to still get them off the card. If not, there are image recovery software products that you can buy. They're supposed to be able to get images when this very thing occurs. I haven't used one, can't even recommend a particular one. Maybe a trip to Best Buy and somebody there can tell you. Or you can take them to a place like Ritz/Wolf or anywhere that prints out from a card and see if they can get them and put them on a CD.

go to www.dpreview.com and search for "CF err", and someone points you to some softwares, which have free trial. I had the same problem before. I had to use 2 softwares, one to read back the photos, and another one to copy into my hard drive. Sorry I don't remember the softwares name at the moment. Next time, after you download all the pictures, reformat the card instead of deleting to clean up your card. BUT do this AFTER you recover your photos!!!

Try your card in a friend's camera that uses the same type of card - preferably a different model. This has worked for me. I presume you tried removing batteries from your camera to reset it, then reinsert your card. Also try rubbing the card contact area with a dry cloth to improve contact. Regards, Mark
