Canon makes a 75-300 IS (image stabilized) lens that is pretty decent and not too expensive. I got one for my wife and she liked it. I've even used it from time to time. The IS is nice since wives rarely want to take the time to use a tripod. ;-)))

Hey, I resent the comment on wifes. I'm a wife and a mother and a photographer. I have two tripods, and quess what, I use them. I do however, agree with the recommendation. Its a nice lens to have, and the IS is nice when you just don't have time to set up a tripod, because you might miss the shot, not because your cooking and cleaning and all those wifely things.

Jeff, just because men are tripods, dosn't mean women don't know how to use them:-)))

If you put it that way I would say that women know better than most how to put a tripod to use. ;-)))
