Please Help!! First Paid Assignment
I just got done shooting a studio cd recording and the studio owner saw my shots and asked me to do a job for him in a couple of weeks. It sounds like a really easy job but I don't know what or how to charge him. He wants me to shoot his next musical performance. Just some pre-performance shots and some live stuff. We've loosely discussed payment arrangements but left it open for later discussion. Any advice?

You can't really give him a price until you know what he is going to use the photogaphs for. If it's for the inside of a CD it's a different price from promotional material for the next performance which is a different price from personal use, not published. ASMP has an excellent guide to priceing photography.

It's going to be for prmotion of his next and future performances. I've heard of the ASMP and I'll check it out. Thanks.
