I hope this ? isn't listed 2x's. I have been using a digcam for 3 yrs now and am still having trouble getting great sharp pics. I've read the book (GREAT book!) for tips but I wonder if I'm doing something wrong. Also, what is difference btn. digital and optical zoom? I guess I haven't learned that one YET. But I won't give up, I LOVE to take photos!:) Susan May

"Optical zoom" means that the actual glass lens of the camera zooms through a range that goes from a wide angle view of the scene in front of the camera to a narrower view that makes a distant subject look bigger. "Digital zoom" means that the camera's electronics provide an even larger image that can be captured optically. This is accomplished by interpolating the image that was captured by the optical lens. While there may be times when digital zoom is necessary to get an image of a distant object, the truth is that it does not create as good an image as can be recorded optically. Hope this helps.
