How to print a larger picture
Hi, I have just purchased an hp photosmart 7900 series printer and have just really begun to use it. I have microsoft picture it editing software and am also a beginner with that as well. I tried to print an old polaroid photo a relative had emailed me as a 4X6 picture. I believe I followed the directions for resizing a photo correctly, however it only comes out about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. What could I be doing wrong? Thanks a bunch! Doreen ps. The image is a jpeg

Hi Doreen, What is the image size of the picture? You said it was a 4x6 picture, but what was the pixel dimension of the picture? the fact that it printed out at 1.5 inches in diameter might suggest that the image size was something like 300x400 or 400x600 pixels. Most inkjet printers print at somewhere between 200dpi to 300dpi. So if the picture someone sent you is only 400x600 pixels, then it will be about 2"x3" or 1.5"x2" when printed on the inkjet. This can be fixed in two ways: 1) Have them send you the full sized scanned image. It should be scanned at at least 150dpi, but no more than 300dpi. The file will be quite big. This file should print out correctly. 2) Resize the image they sent you so that it will print at the right size. You select the image resize option and change it to have the following parameters: height: 4" width: 6" dpi: 150 or 250 This will result in a larger image, but you might notice that it is somewhat blurred or pixellated. This is because you can't resize something to a larger size without loss in quality. :( Both methods will yield you a bigger printed image. Good luck!
