Photography Question

minolta 7i and dpi?

I have a minolta 7i that I have enjoyed using for months now. I just recently discovered that all my shots Jpeg and Raw images are a 72dpi resolution. I can not find anywhere in the cameras controls to change to 300dpi. My old nikon 880 had everything in 300dpi no changes necessary. Can anyone explain why a better megapix camera would only have images in 72dpi and tell me if I can change it. I want the best prints possible help please!

Lisa

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the choice of dpi resolution is made when you decide to print/display the images, not in-camera when they are recorded.

If you are using the 7i at the Std setting, then its recording the image as a JPEG with resolution of 1280 x 960 pixels. When you display the image on-screen or print it you choose the size by specifying the dpi (dots per inch).

hi lisa,i have a 7hi also(never use it now I have a canon rebel though)no camera actually takes the 300 dpi image, you changeit to whateverin editing software,i use elements2.00,untick resample image and just type in 300 dpi,it adjust the size of print to match dpi, should get a 8x10 print out of a minolta.
