Another Photo 101 test question? ;-))) Dodging is the witholding of light during the printing of a photo. You dodge an area of a photo that is too dark by holding an object between the paper and the enlarger creating a shadow over the area you wish to lighten. The result is less exposure on that area than the rest of the paper.
