Ever so depressing as I have not received an EP for forever and none for October. I've gone backwards instead of forward as I used to receive EPs fairly regularly and now nothing. I didn't even received one for my third place for September's Monthly Mission. Wonder many times if BP lied to me for three years with EPs and now they are actually serious with awarding them for quality photographs.

Sonya, we've seen this before...the EP rate fluctuates. I've seen it as high as 90% (based on quick subjective look), and as low as 30%. I haven't checked lately but I'll try to do that later today. The quality of your photographs hasn't changed; it's just that BP is being more stingy in handing them out. Many of my photos are not getting EPs either, when they used to. I"m not sure BP is "lying", it's just that they are being much more picky in their process. But they also now do a 2nd look later in the month, so don't give up hope just yet.

I really can't tell much. New entries on Oct 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 with EP's on 1 and 4. Then I forgot on the 6th because I was traveling and resubmitted from my gallery on Oct 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14. All except the 11th already had EP's but I did pick one up on the 11th so that's good. New entries but uploaded before I left town on the 10th and 15th - no EP's on either of them. New entries every day since and nothing yet on any of them. And I am not getting notifications, either. :(

Unless there is some behind the scenes activity, there will be a big rush to judgement in the next few days. The situation reminds me of the student who puts off doing a paper until the last minute then stays up all night typing. How good will that paper be? How thorough can the judging be as well? One of my finalist photos was awarded an EP at the end of the month and had been entered early in the month of September. They must make at least two passes (I hope). I picked up a couple more today but a couple of nice photos were shipped. Hopefully, they will be picked up later. By the way, I almost deleted that finalist photo last month thinking that they were through. Lesson learned....don't delete until the staff favorites have been announced.

Just checked in here - since I don't get forum discussion notifications anymore despite asking for them, I tend to forget about BP most days - and found out they've finished the first pass-over. I have 12 skips of first time entries (can't tell on the previous EP's I resubbed), at least two of which are honestly among my best entries not only of the month but of several months. I join those in hoping for a second run-through :)

Keep hoping they will go back for the second round, but as Thanksgiving approaches and they also have to get the SF's, Finalists and Winners out in the next week, my hopes dim. Because I was out of town and re-subbing from my gallery, I had more resubs than usual; can't tell about those. Here's the picture: New EP's: 1,4,18,19,20,22,23,29,30,31 Resubs that already had EP: 7,8,9,11,12,13,14 No entry: 6,21 New entries, skipped: 2,3,5,10,15,16,17,24,25,26,27,28 Since I make it a habit to enter as much variety as possible, I think it's strange to find the skipped days clustered as they are.

I don't understand evidently. I did not know one could resubmit a photo that already had an EP. What is the rule concerning this? If a photo does not have a finalist or gold badge but has an EP, it can be resubmitted? Is this correct? Could I get a clarification on this from someone. Thanks, Harriet

You can resubmit anything, Harriet. If you do it from your gallery, you don't risk losing the EP, but you do risk losing the SF, Finalist, or Winner badge if it doesn't go as far on the resubmission. Of course you can always do a new upload and then if it doesn't go on, you can delete it and keep the one with the badge. Resubmitting used to be encouraged. Then at one point there were complaints about resubmissions of Finalists because they often got Finalist again and people felt they were taking Finalist spots away from others (though there has never been a quota on Finalists, neither in terms of numbers nor in terms of percent of entries), so Jim said don't resubmit anything. But it was never impossible to do it and people did it anyway. Finally he said, basically, "Okay, go ahead and resubmit." I don't know what thread that was in but it was months ago. And I don't know that there's ever been a written rule either way. I resub EP's all the time, Finalists very rarely (like maybe one a year and only when I think it's a super fit in a Monthly Theme), Winners never (except I think I did once by mistake because I was resubbing from gallery and didn't open it so I didn't see the badge and I'd forgotten about it). But some people resubmit 2nd place Winners hoping for a 1st place, I guess.

Hopefully someone can help me answer this question? I've tried sharing my 2nd Place photo on my Facebook Timeline and it's showing a different picture? In the past I've been able to share a couple of my other winners and it used to shows my shot. Must have something to do with the new betterphoto web site..

I'm not crazy about this either. The way I get around it is to copy the image specific link - the short one in Manage your Photos that ends with the photo id - and paste it in. Then when the BP ad comes up, I use the x in the upper right corner to delete it. The link remains as clickable text. Now I upload a small version of my winning photo. That way there's my photo plus a link to BP for anyone who may want to see it there. Since I'm really only "sharing" to show off the image, I just say in my post that I've just had a 2nd place win at BP with this image and then do the above. Hope this helps.
