Leica Minilux vs. Contax T3
Since I want a high quality compact camera, with the option of manual override, and would never take an SLR with me due to its size and weight. I do care more about lens quality than having a zoom, and want a camera I can keep for the next 2-3 decades. It has come down to pretty much the Leica Minilux vs. the Contax T3.So far it seems to me that the Minilux vs. the Contax has
- worse controls / not as user friendly
- larger/heavier (although some people seem to like that)
+ those Leica colors
+ usually about $100 cheaper Any input or experiences with either camera would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

May I offer other options? The Ricoh GR-1S has a 28-mm lens using Leica specs. It's becoming a backpacker cult classic for its excellent lens quality. It has manual override, a lens shade, and is cheaper than either of the other two. If a 28 is to your liking, check it out at kbcamera.com under point n' shoots. When I want to go light, but care about image quality, I carry a Minolta CLE with a Leica 40-mm lens. It was made in the early 80's, is metal, with metal gears, so is not as light as the others mentioned. A new Voigtlander Bessa R2 with their cheapest, but still excellent, 35-mm f2.5 lens is light, but $400 cheaper than the used CLE above. Look into rangefinders at cameraquest.com.
