Adox-Dr.C.Schleussner Fotowerke G.m.b.H. (Frankfurt a.M., Germany) Schleussner was founded in 1860 as a manufacturer of photographic chemicals. From 1880 Schleussnen made dry-plates, and from 1903 roll-films. Adox cameras were distributed from the 1930s. Prewar and early postwar cameras were mostly made by Wergin. The 'Adox' name, already established as a product name, was adopted as the official company in 1947. In the early 1950s the new Adox camera factory was opened in Wiesbaden. In 1962 Adox was bought by the Du Pont Company of Wilmington, Delaware. Camera production ended in 1965.
