My favorite is Feb 13th for this months entries. It an image taken a Pearl Harbor. It an abstract with a human element in the image and it different than anything I ever seen taken and this has been photographed tons of times. All my images are marked with date of entry so just check out my port.

I do not... usually I think it is Dominick, or Elida, or some of the other folks who aren't based on the east coast of the US, who tend to get the final numbers just before midnight PST on the last day of the month. Once the Finalist notices come out (this week, I'm guessing) those notices include a rounded count of how many entries were made in total.

There are so many beautiful and interesting pieces of photography that I have looked at. February is my first month entering the photo contest. I tried to get something into every class. Logically speaking February Finalists should come a bit early as about 1500 to 2000 less contest entries are entered as compared to January or March...! Me too, I thought it will be early. But then expectations are there to be ...... broken sometimes! UB.

It would make sense... though if I recall (don't have my info in front of me) the January Finalists came out around the 10th of February! So by that standard, processing a 31-day-month, they're running late to release February Finalists! Maybe today... I'm breaking into the dark chocolate now, getting antsy! ;)

Indeed... the relatively recent BP development of giving us "fast Finalists" (only been that way for about a year now) has spoiled us to expect Finalists by about the 15th or so, every month. But yes, prior to that development, Finalists rarely came out before the 21st, and once or twice it went as late as the 29th or 30th! Let's hope that isn't the case here...

I hate to say it, but the 21st remains the most popular date for BP to announce Finalists, in my 63 months of tracking... But the 18th and 19th also have precedence. Looking back, February results have come out increasingly later, on the following dates: 3/22/06, 3/22/07, 3/24/08, 3/25/09, 3/26/10---not a very promising trend, it would seem... Fingers crossed... I'm about to make a cheesecake; I fear it could succumb to this impatient anxiety, not surviving intact to reach the potluck dinner tomorrow for which it is intended...

It only seems that way---I have all the data in a simple spreadsheet, and I only have to add each month's stats, filling in about 5 cells, when they come out---the spreadsheet then tallies up how many were on Mondays, Tuesdays, etc., as well as how many were on the 19th, 20th, 21st, etc. ;)
