A beautiful clear night so I decided to try my hand at astro-photography. I shot this toward the east (110 degrees) with my 28-300mm lens at 28mm for one minute at ISO 3200 at 11:57pm just after the moon had set and the sky was dark. With the one minute exposure I was surprised at the movement of the earth that created the star trails in only one minute. While the shutter was open I painted the close by brush and the tree with a small flashlight to light them up a bit. Orion is over on the right side and I believe that the large cluster of stars is a piece of the Milky Way. The large planet in the center is Venus. Photo: _7509486aas.jpg.
