I like the simplicity of this. It is probably because I have experimented with similar shots (with similar foliage) that I'm interested in raising some questions here. As I look at this I sorta want to crop bottom and left to use the focus as a target for the rule of thirds. Do you get what I mean? It seems to me that it creates more movement in the image (encouraging the eye to shift from focus to softness, or vice-versa). Had you considered other crops?

Thanks for providing some insight to a different perspective. I slightly cropped the image to my liking but I did not think about taking out the bottom left corner. I liked that there was a pretty defined focus area and the angle the leaf is on. Honestly, I wish I had bumped up the f/ to f/6.3 or 7.1 just to get more of the leaf in focus. I understand your idea with the rule of thirds. I see that you teach PS which is my next course to take in the next few months. I will be in touch soon and please feel free to share ideas any time. THANKS!!

Don't get me wrong, there are many ways to see an image. You seem to suggest you want more of it in focus...Your ISO is at 100, and with some cameras you can advance that quite a bit to allow for the smaller aperture. You likely wouldn't want to slow the shutter speed (though Edward Weston might go that way...). Not knowing where this was taken, was bounce flash an option?

Something like it from my gallery (elsewhere I have things even more similar...):
