Photo Clubs

Anybody have any experience with photo clubs? I've occasionally wondered about them, but I've never found one near where I live, and I don't know anybody who attends the ones in the region. I enjoy the community here (and elsewhere on-line) but think I would like a "face-to-face" group. Any thoughts / experiences?

Yes I belong to camera clubs - Focus Colorado in Denver and Charlottesville Camera Club in Virginia via zoom. I used to belong to that one in person when I lived there a few years ago.

Thanks Gwen. What're your favorite activities of the clubs? Is there training, contests/assignments, outings? What else?

At Focus in Denver, there are educational programs each month, outings and a mentoring program. I head up the mentoring program and there are 5 of us mentors. I am mentoring two people now via zoom and one lives close so we will do a photo shoot soon. At Charlotesville, they have a photo reivew where you have people critiquing your photo. They have occasional programs too. At the monthly competition, they have a people's choice which I rely on more than one picky judge.This Club has a one year limit for age of photo submitted in the theme category. I used to belong to this Club when I lived in VA 15 years ago.!! If you were thinking of joining a club via Zoom, I would go with Charlotesville Camera Club.

Thanks for the information. I hadn’t really considered the concept of a Zoom club, something to ponder for sure. Looks like they have a web site, I‘lol give it a look!
