Great macro Dolores! That bug looks like some kind of science fiction robot :-) #23864

Awesome shot Dolores! I love how its color looks so metallic - set against the green, it's picture-perfect! I can totally see this as a wrap around magazine cover.

Tremendous capture Dolores. I'm just glad these critters don't grow as large as it appears in your macro shot. Perfect DOF and background. #23868

Thank so much, June Marie! I appreciate your kindness!! I still don't know what type of beetle this is. I'll ask Bob Jensen when I have a chance...he's our resident entomologist(sp?). There must have been 50 of these in all sizes in my neighbors plant (they HAD white blossoms)Have a great weekend, June Marie! #24124

DOLORES! Where has this guy been hiding? This is a terrific macro, I have a photo of this type of bug from last summer....no where near as great as this! How did you do this shot? Do you have special equipment? I know this is a small bug! Great job girlfriend, good luck in the contest!

Hey girlfriend!! Thank you soooo much, Kathy! I have no clue what this beetle is and I'd love for Bob Jensen to tell me! I found her in my neighbors flowers...along with about 30 more...just devouring the viny plants they were on!! I loved her metallic blue color but I noticed the mandibles were most prominent!! I was afraid she'd bite me if she got on my hand. I did this macro the same way I do most of my other macros...I screw on my Tiffen 10x lens and use max. dof. In this case,(due to the blue), I knew that a contrasting background was the best way to isolate her so I moved the branch she was on so I would have the grass as backdrop. Hope this answers your question! And thanks so much for taking out of your Saturday to comment!! #28908
