Great Professional SLR. Uses creative expansion cards for custom functions.
Downside - no built in flash.

Havong been using the 9Xi since April 1993. It is a very durable camera, has a lot of neat features. As compared to some of the more recent models, it obviously lacks some flash features (e.g. D metering for flash, preflash, flash compensation, 3D Balanced Fill Flash, rear curtain sync). For non-flash pictures it is excellent. I prefer the buttons to the knobs as it is very easy to get back to the default mode with a push of one button. I paid close to $700 for it in 1993. It can now (1/2004) be bought used on Ebay foor about $200 - $250. A good camera for a amateur or advanced amateur photographer. Pros will gravitate towards the Maxxum 9 or 7 which have a lot more useful features than the 9Xi.

Camera has great accessories, and capabilities. The auto focus doesn't always adjust correctly and may only be used in well lit environments.
