I used to have point and shoot Sony Cyber shot 5.1 Mgp camera and hated that it offers almost no control over apperture and shutter speed (or so I thought!) - now I absolutely love this camera and quality of images it produces- in good hands they are not worse then pictures shoot with SLRs!!!!!
I think the best feature is raw format, rechargable batteries with many hours of shoting anf CF format of media card- the cheapest one on a market now! I absolutely love this camera!!!

If I had to fault it it would be size, otherwise it is great. Need to understand more of the programmable functions.

I learned on this camera. It has picture quality that is very close to my Rebel XT in quality. It also has most of the features of Digital SLR. Great Macro shooting camera. I like the macro photos from this camera better than the rebel xt. I hate the lens limitations and the issues with narrow Depth of Field.

I'm really quite fond of the Canon PowerShot family. This one does get a bit heavy after a while though. But, the discomfort is worth it after you see how wonderful the quality of the pictures are.

I can't complain about the 10D, period. I love it. As for a point&shoot, I haven't enjoyed anything more than I do my G6. I do a wide variety or shots from action to night to portrait to studio. When I need something good but not extravagant, I grab the G6. The downside is that it's not an SLR...but can we really compare them? I think not. I've owned/still own: Minolta, Olympus, Canon, Nikon.

I've got used to DSLR. Even so I find this to be a very useful tool. The capability of these small digital cameras is limited, that's just how it is. If you accept that, and learn to work within it, IMHO this is the best of the litter. And I've owned several, over the years, before going with DSLR. A keeper, this one goes everywhere I go.

Love this G6. It has a relatively fast lens (F2.0), which opens up not only low light opportunities, but allows the use of filters as well. Also the 7.0 megapixel provides enough saturation for editing.

I LOVE this camera, except that there is a slight lag in the shutter speed, in that case one would like to move to the Tv mode. Apart from that its simply great.

I'm not really sure if it's me or the camera so it is kind of hard to rate it, I have read the manual from cover to cover at least three times but I feel that the photos could be brighter, sharper, more colorful, but as I said it is more likely my fault and not the camera, I must be doing something wrong.

I absolutly love my camera. It takes the best pictures in the world compared to the last camera I had. The only thing I fon't like is that it doesn't anti-shake, but that's where the tripod and wireless remote come in. But I have taken some very nice pictures w/ this.

The Canon G6 is a handy pro-sumer camera. Very rugged and versitile. The quality of the pictures is excellent over a wide range of exposure settings and lighting conditions. The program modes make taking pictures easy and at times very fast. Just point and shoot. My main complaint is that I don't seem to have as much control over the exposure settings in manual mode as I would like. But that hasn't stopped me form continuing to push the enevlope.

Equipped with a higher resolution 7.1-megapixel CCD-type sensor, the PowerShot G6 digital camera captures 3072 x 2304 pixel images with exceptional detail and color fidelity. The digital camera offers users a vari-angled 2.0" LCD monitor for better on-camera viewing and Canon's exclusive DIGIC Image Processor, which increases image quality and processing speeds while reducing power consumption. Canon's powerful 4x all-glass optical zoom lens provides photographers with a 35mm equivalent range of 35-140mm, a fast maximum aperture of f/2.0-3.0 and macro focusing down to 2 inches. The additional 4.1x digital zoom extends the camera's telephoto capabilities to provide photographers with 16x combined zoom functionality.

Good camera, didn't want to get into changing the lenses thing with DSLR, like the large swivel LCD, wish it had better digital zoom than 4x, considered the Canon Pro 1 as had most of same features as the G6 but with 10x zoom, but could not find one when I purchased the G6 and just had to have a new camera that day!

I like the performance of my Canon Powershot G6 since I have it last December 2004. The reviews and rating I read about it proved me right in buying this wonderfull camera. What I don't like about it is the "clumpsy lens cover" and its set of bulky conversion lenses! All the rest is GREAT for this Canon Powershot G6!

Of course, this is no SLR, but it performs great; all the features I could want in a camera except the obvious--can't interchange lenses, can't compose through the lens. I still have a lot to learn about this camera, but have taken what I think, are some pretty good photos.

I had a Powershot A20 (2mp) digital and decided I was ready to move up. This camera is great. The controls make sense and are easy to use - no awkward positioning necessary to change a setting. The macro is terrific, but the supermacro is absolutely perfect. It's a great camera to learn advanced photography on. As for the need of an adapter to add lenses and filters, at first I found it a bit awkward - having to put the adapter on, then the lens, then remove them both, put the "ring" back on to use the lens cap. But, I have found a simple way around it. I keep the adapter on at all times and put a UV filter on that and picked up a simple lens cap to fit. It doesn't interfere with my macros, zoom or wide angle shots, and when I want to use the teleconverter lens, I just add it on to the UV filter. In addition, the adapter has plastic threads which may deteriorate with heavy use. With the adapter/UV filter setup, I have conveniently changed it into a metal thread adapter. The biggest downside to this camera is the desire to buy all the accessories to go with it.

I replaced my G5 with the G6 a month ago and am very pleaed with the changes. The larger LCD, more compact size works well for my hiking style. The controls are very logical, an improvement over the G5. The only drawback was not being able to use the lens adapter from the G5.

My first digital camera. It took me a long time to go from SLR/film but I am glad I did! I love all of the thing my new camera allows me to do. I haven't even discovered all of the features my camera offers. I love it!!

First of all I like the addition of a ND filter that I can select from a menu. One less filter I need to carry. The optical zoom is worth the price of admission. Good quality and max zoom. The 7.1mp files are larger but that really insn't an issue for me, cause I carry at least 4 128mb flash cards and several other flash cards ranging from 4mb to 32mb. Picture quality is supurbe. Speed of operation seems to be a bit faster than my G2. The G6 feels good in my hand and seems to be a little lighter. Overall an excellent camera.

We have only had this camera for 5 days and so far finding it very user friendly. We previously had the Kodak dc280 so its be quite an upgrade from a 2.1 to 7 megapixels.
