I started taking pictures on a hobby basis about a year ago. I bought the Gateway DC-M42 (4mp) digital camera on sale last summer and have not had much of a problem with it. For more serious photography work a DSLR obviously would be better equipment to have. Just starting out taking photographs as an amateur, the camera I'be been using has proven efficient and cost-effective. It's a decent camera for learning the basics about digital photography.

For someone still learning I love this camera. There are several very user friendly options that really help. The only problem that I have with it would be the long delay but that is associated with many digital cameras anyway.

Easy to use and versatile, but it really drains batteries!

Not bad for a beginner's camera. 4.1 pixels. But I don't like changing batteries.
