From the manufacturer: XP2 is a sharp, fast, fine grain black and white film. It can be used for any photographic subject, but ensures excellent results when there is a wide range of subject brightness. XP2 is easy to process. It is a black and white film processed in C41 type processing chemicals. This is the same processing used for color negative films, so any lab should be able to process it in house.
From BetterPhoto: Using this film is a fun way to get quick and easy sepia toned photos. Because the lab is processing black and white film in color developing chemicals, the resulting prints often have a slight hue to them.

this is one of the most versatile films I have ever used. I have found that you can expose it all the way up to 800 iso, which brings out a beautiful grainy texture while still keeping the contrast. upwards of 800 iso you start to lose contrast but in my humble opinion this film is witchcraft.

This film is the mainstay of my B&W work and has yet to dispoint. It indicates 400 ISO but I find it produces results closer to a 200, yet has the higher speed when you need it. For best results, have it output onto true B&W paper.

I use this film exclusively for my black and white work. I process it at a one hour lab for instant results and then have the prints I want processed at a pro lab. The textures and the grain are simply wonderful. Shoot and compare to Tri-X and you won't be disappointed. Scooter
