Great camera. Picked one up used winter of 2005 for $150(body, 35-70mm Nikkor lens and SB-22 speedlight). Used it for various applications before getting the D50 body.

It yhas worked great with my Tamron 28-200mm lens. I used it for shooting a wedding and some landscape an still life stuff. It has done an excellent job, no complaints.
Well, the only complaint is that it's not digital! I like verifying the fact that I got the shot and not having to wait for developing.

Other than that a solid performer that can now be found inexpensively. I have not found the need for a back or other frills, so most people wanting to step into the SLR relm will find this camera very capable. Also, the lenses for this camera work on my D50, so that is a bonus as well.

This is a great camera. It is a work horse. I did a lot of research before I bought this camera and it has lived up to it's reputation. If I ever go digital this camera will be my backup because I know it will do the job.

I bought this Nikon N90s after using a freinds for a little while. i think that the N90s is a great camera one of the best that nikon has made. The only thing that I do not like about the camera is the weight when I have the vertical grip and my 300mm lens on it.

I really like the various metering choices- matrix. spot, or center weight. Some of the features are a little hard to get used to accessing ie: push mode, while rotating thumb wheel. Also, this camera is GREAT on batteries....one set of 3AA's seems to last foever.

I purchase this camera to replace my Minolta SRT-101 when I decided to get serious about photography and build a system. This was a great camera that offered me a vehicle to learn photography using both manual and auto modes, with most of the latest lenses at the time. Its metering was extremely accurate and fast, at least for my shooting. Its limitations were in the relegation of features that had to be programmed and its lack of full screen. Limitations in image quality can be blamed on the photographer.

Excellent, fast autofocus with the great Nikon lenses. Equally good as a manual focus or exposure. Very good camera. Operates on four AA batteries, just like the "pro" line of Nikons. I'm not so sure this isn't a "pro" Nikon.

Lots of features with the price I purchased and easy to use, good results, depends how the pictures are taken and what lenses are used, varies with the day, place and time. I am happy with what I have. Based on that I also purchased another Nikon N80 after that say about a year ago which is also equally good.

Before I purchassed the Nikon F90x pro SLR camera, I did my research in all the popular camera magazines. At the time it was one of the top SLR cameras Nikon had to offer. It got a lot of appraisals on picture quality, this and ease of use persuaded me to purchasse this camera. I was not disapointed, it has proved to me time and time again to be all that it was claimed to be! Obviously I will one day go digital but I will always have my Nikon 90x with me as well.

I have had this camera for almost 10 years and love it. I love the versitility of film. I have a varity of lense the two I mostly use are my 70-300mm zoom and my Nikor 30-70mm f2.8D I mostly scan my stuff in with a Nikon Coolscan II. This is a timely process but renders very hi-res imiages. I reciently got a Nikon D70 which is very much like my N90 but removes the scanning step.

Best camera I've ever owned. It's taken a beating and still looks new. Only thing it needs is a way to take a generic cable release but there are ways around that. It's also a little heavy. Excellent matrix metering. Fast auto focus. High eye point finder. Easy to use.

I like the camera very much because you can use it all manual, all automatic or any combination of those two. However, I sometimes have problems switching from all manual to all automatic, with forgetting to lock the aperature in at the correct setting or accidentally hitting a button and not being sure of what I did. The thing I don't like about it is: it seems to use up the batteries very quickley and only uses double A batteries. I sometimes feel it is a little sophisticated for my photography abilities.

My camera is a Nikon N90s I like the Nikon brand and the optics. I find Nikon lenses are sharp and of quality. I am enjoying photography using my Nikon. I purchased this camera 8 months ago and wished that someone would have discussed the comparisons between N90s and the F100. My next camera will be a digital SLR because of the interchageable lenses Nikon offers.

The Nikon N90 has been one of my better purchases in regards to my choices of cameras. In fact, Nikon in general has been a supreme weapon of choice and I've scraped all others for this one brand. I only hold my Nikon FE2 & F3 as anything close to the Nikon N90 for quality and excellence.

A realitvely light weigth body with pro quality features. Excellent for a travel phootgrapher. Metering is very good, autofocus is fast (with Nikkor AFS lenses) and accurate. I also like the silhouette program function which allows fast shooting of slihouettes.

I am still trying to get used to the Nikon system after using Canon for a long time. I think the camera is excellent, just need to get a good feel for using it.

Hello, When I pruchased this camera I had been using a Nikon FE and liked the optics in the Nikkor lenses. So I decided to stay with Nikon and I'm glad I did. I am really impressed with the Nikon N90S. There are so many options and variations to choose from. I haven't had a lot of time to use the camera since I purchased it but am looking forward to learning all that I can from it. I also purchased th SB28 speedlight with it and am very impressed with the capabilities of the combination. It should be alot of fun experimenting with all of the different options. If you are looking for new equipment, i would highly recommend taking the time to take a close look at Nikon. I didn't rate the equipment 10 because of my lack of working knowledge with it. I'll get back to you when I have had more time with it.

Nikon N90s is a perfect camera if your looking for photojournalistic images. First of all his light metering system is great! almost like Olympus OM3. It is lighter than others Nikon cameras and strong at the moment of working on the field (photojournalism)

I love my N90s! Despite the weight (added a MB-10 battery pack/vertical grip), it is great. Super-reliable, and has never let me down once. I am an advanced amature/semi-pro photographer who shoots a great deal of portraits and weddings. This is my work horse. Great flexibility and super fast drive.

I have two film Nikon;s the 90 and an N70. I absolutely love the Nikon system. It is easy to use and I believe (if you understand and practice all the right stuff, "film, aperture, and shutter speed" the photographic triangle Bryan Peterson teaches in his book) can give a photographer lot's of satisfaction. I even dropped the N70 in a raging river in the Smoky Mountains while shooting their and it stlll takes terrific images. If I upgrade it always will be Nikon.

The Nikon N90 is an excellent auto everything TLR film camera with fairly easy to use manual over rides. Comfortable to hold and handle, the auto exposure and auto focus both work quite well and the automatic film advance is fast enough to take nice action sequence shots. Hard to beat the quality of Nikon optics.

The N90 takes good pictures, but does not have the multiple exposure feature unless the data bank is purchased. I do have the organizer for it which keeps the apature, shutter speed, etc. The camera body will only hold three rolls of 36 exp. film before it has to be downloaded.

IS IT WRONG TO LOVE A MACHINE? FAST, ACCURATE, DURABLE,EASY TO USE, QUICK TO LOAD, GOOD TO THE HAND, LARGE HIGH EYE OPENING, CHANGEABLE BACKS, DEPTH OF FIELD PREVIEW, SYSTEM CAMERA.tHIS CAMERA HAS BEEN WITH ME ON OCEANS, LAKES, JUNGLES AND MOUNTAIN TOPS IN EVERY CORNER OF THE US AND THE CARIBBEAN. I AM PRIMARILY A MARINE PHOTOGRAPHER AND THE N90S HAS BEEN WITH ME FOR MORE THAN 5 YEARS WHILE EXPOSED TO THE HARSH SALT WATER ENVIRONMENT. I TAKE WHAT CARE I CAN TO KEEP FROM HARM BUT THERE ARE MANY TIMES WHEN A SALT WATER SPLASH IS UNAVOIDABLE. IT AS STOOD UP TO THE ELEMENTS FAR BETTR THAN I. iT'S A LITTLE HEAVY, BUT THAT'S OK.

For me this is the perfect camera. It is a shame that they have stopped making it. I own three. The focus could be a bit faster and I wish you could shoot double images with out haveing to use the data back but other than that it is perfect. The matrix metering seldom lets me down and I can now do things almost instantly that would have taken quite awhile to meter before. 2 Thumbs up on this one.

My favorite camera after the D100. Used to think the N90s was heavy until I started using the D100 & vertical grip. Now it feels like a point & shoot in my hands. This camera is so perfect for me, I can work every function by touch alone, so I never have to look up from the viewfinder to find the right button.

Overall a good camera. Personally a bit too plasticy (vs FTn, FE, FM2, FE2, F3), with too many bells and whistles. Recently sold mine and acquired a used F3 (w/DE-2) as I didn't use 95% of what was in the N90s and also wanted 100% viewfinder coverage.

I feel that Nikon reached a zenith in this camera that for the majority of photographers you just do not need to go beyond. There are bargains on the second hand market allowing you to use the money saved compared with a F100 for instance to purchase enough film to keep the most avid photographer happy for the next couple of years. Combined with the SB28 flash it calculates accurate exposures for complicated scenes that make me feel dizzy just thinking about. For me at least it will be the last silver halide based 35mm camera that I will want or need prior to digital making film based photography a minority interest (like vinyl records and the CD) over the next decade, something

N90S is a great camera. State of the art metering. Faster & accurate auto-focus.Superb build. This is all time great Nikon.I own F-5 ,F100,F4S& N90S.F-5 has 3D color matrix metering &N90S has 8segment matrix metering ,both are great metering but some situations N90S gives more acceptable results than F-5.In backlit scene if your subject is too small then you need to use compensation or flash. This strategy is same with the F-5.
.N90S is enough rugged for professional punishment or for use any climate.
If you are looking for excellent camera then N90S is the answer.
. I found N90S is most sophisticated performer in F series & N series.
NEGATIVE POINTS-You must own multi control back for full use of this camera.
No VR function compatibility.

Nice camera. I've had mine for about 3 years and it has always performed very well.
Obviously Nikon would like all N90s users to upgrade to the F100 wich is possibly 0.01 second faster on the autofocus and has a metering system very much like the N90s. With a price tag up in the sky.
In 2 or 3 years Nikon is gonna introduce the F100x or F200 and is gonna want all F100 users to do the upgrade. Bottom line is professionals used and are still using this camera to capture great shots.
Best buy in the Nikon line.
