I love this camera! It takes full frame pictures, and can shoot anything from macro to wide angle pictures without having to change lenses. I think it is the most versatile P and S around...It even goes to F11 which most P and S's don't...The only drawback besides that Minolta no longer makes them, is you can't shoot in low light very well. It gets pretty noisy. I love the live histogram, the live view, video, and anti shake features. This camera was way ahead of it's time!

It has some very good features for a beginners SLR: menu navigation, anti-shake, clarity of photos, and different program settings.

Its about a year old! Instruction book 178 pages. It will take me along time to learn how to use it. One of the first cameras at 8 mega pixels. Too complicated for a first digital, but pruduces good images.

if it had interchangeable lens i'd give it a 5. I like that fact it goes form 28mm to 300mm. so many prosumers have gone longer but not as wide, I hate that. If you want more length the workaround is a 1.5 multiplier minolta makes that can be screwed on to the 49mm thread mount which brings the tele to 300mm. Also can use a .8x converter for even wider angle which brings the the 28mm to about about 22mm! I like the fact that I can use filters and it's light weight and has manual focus, so it doesn't suck up battery life when i'm outdoors. the external flash is very powerful. Great beginner camera on automatic and great camera to grow into but using the multitude of manual adjustments and settings.

This is a great camera. It is fast enough to take action shote has many bells and whistles if you want them. It shoots JPG's Tiff's and Raw. The zoom works just like a slr camera and is step less for just the right framing and has a manual focus ring. As with any prosumer camera. I cannot give it a 5 because I always wish I coulds add a bigger lens. It dose get pretty grainy if set to 800asa. All in all I do recoment it as a great camera to have when you want versatility.

good: very compact 8 megapixel fixed lense digital slr. have the best and highest resolution electronic view finder (EVF). good zoom range from 28mm (wide angle) to 200mm. many intuitive buttons and switches at the back and side of the camera body for quick adjustment to the settings. bad: produce yellowish pictures that is hard to avoid even with white balance adjustment in some lighting condition.

My first camera I bought it refurbished at a great price. Works great no problems. 8MP is great the manual zoom/focus rings a wonderful. The Image quality is high although not exceptional. The Image stabalization is nice to have and the EVF is very nice. Overall a nice camera I would recomend to beginners.

The flash is weak. If you plan on shooting many indoor pictures, you'll need to buy an external flash. The pictures with good lighting are all underexposed. The best answer for this is to shoot in raw, and then adjust the lighting from there. The picture quality is not what I expected. I had a 2.1 megapixel Sony that would outshoot this 8 megapixel Minolta as far as picture quality goes (as long as you don't go bigger than a 5x7.) I like the fast recovery time with the minolta. The manual focus is super slow though. If you plan on doing much shooting, plan on spending much time at the computer adjusting the lighting.

I bought my Minolta A2 in january of this year after using several little point and shoot models for the last several months. I decided on the A2 for it's image stabilizer, 8 meg sensor, and 7X lens. I cant say I know much about the fine art of photography, therefore am unable to give a good review at this time.

I bought this camera based on its feature set and mostly positive reviews. I have mixed feelings about it and I am somewhat disappointed with the image quality in general, I was expecting to be very impressed but I am not. I have updated to the latest firmware and there is still no perceivable improvement in its image quality or focusing abilities. My A2 has a tendency to overexpose by about 1 to 2 stops and the focus appears a little soft most of the time. I have a Casio Exlim Z3 which is a 3 megapixel camera which I love and I tend to prefer the picture quality from the Casio than from the A2. I believe this has something to do with how the pictures are processed in camera. Minolta needs to improve how its cameras processes photos. The fact that the LCD doesn't swing out and tilt is also a negative. I have also had trouble downloading pictures directly to my computer. It downloads maybe 5 or 6 photos then stops and gives me an error message. I can't find the problem so I had to by an external card reader and it works without any problems. Another issue is that the battery lasts only half as long as indicated in the manual. I am continuing to tweak the settings to see if I can improve on picture qualty. I hope the A3 or whatever the next model will be addresses all of these issues.

The anti shake feature is great. The flash is weak. The camera is not for a begginer. Though it is easy to learn if you read the manual and have some camera knowledge.

I can't honestly review this camera yet, but at 8 mp it does take some awesome pictures! I'm still learning to use it at this time, but so far I love it.

In general a very good camera, particularly for this price range. The anti-shake feature has allowed me to take some great night shots. On the down side, the manual is one of the worst I have ever seen for ANY product. It is plainly obvious that it was translated from Japanese and was done so very poorly. If you are not good at intuitively finding your way through features you will be lost.

The only things missing from this camera as a non-slr is, more megapixels (for large prints) and ability to use infrared filters. Having a zoom ring, 200mm zoom lens, anti-shake, B&W setting are all great.

I had a Canon G2 for years. This is a huge step up in the digital world. 8 megapixels is just what I needed for panoramics and nature shots. The zoom has enabled me to finally get some decent bird shots. And the anti-shake feature is the best thing ever.

I find the Dimage A2 to be perfect for my purposes as an amateur photograher. I wanted high resolution with all the functions of a film camera without having to deal with film. It has performed beautifully for me in the last six months of ownership. I love detail and have discovered the high resolution allows me to crop down in Photoshop and manipulate to cover the slight changes needed for the "good" picture.

At first glance you may be intimidated by the array of controls, but after a week or so of shooting, I could appreciate the locations and functionality of the buttons. It starts up fast, offers a huge amount of options, and takes incredibly sharp photos. The image stabilization feature is a must, low light shots are no longer the challenge they once were. The one peeve I have is that when shooting in low light, auto focus is very hit and miss, I have had a number of shots missed because of the trouble the AF has.

The KonicaMinolta A2 is a fine compact digital camera. The fixed 28-200mm GT lens is extremely sharp, rivalling that of my Sony F828. The user customizable parameter options on the A2 are astounding, which is one reason I purchased it. In addition, the "Super High Resolution" EVF is easier to focus critically than that of my Sony F828. In conclusion, the A2 is a worthy device for high-quality images if you don't yet own a DSLR.

I had this camera for 5 days and was not happy with it at all. While it does have some fabulous features on it, it did not perform well at all. The 7x optical zoom wasn't enough for me after working with a 10x optical on my Olympus. It is great for up close photos but had focusing problems at 200mm zoom range. Photos came out blurry even if the flex point focus was placed directly on the subject. The EVF is not all that it is hyped up to be. My Olympus C740's EVF is more accurate and clearer than the A2's. On camera flash wasn't effective enough for me either. I use fill flash alot when shooting outdoors, to elimate shadows on my subjects. My C740 lights up the subject nicely when shooting outdoors, the A2's seem to darken the photos, regardless of any exposer changes. I tried everything to no avail. I didn't think that this camera could have that much wrong with it and still sell as well as it is. On the last day, it locked up completely and displayed an Error message on the screen. That explained everything. More than likely these problems are the result of a defective camera. I read some other reviews on this camera and found out that other people have had the same problems. Rather than try another replacement A2, I have decided to send it back and get my money back. I'll wait for the Minolta 7D SLR, which is due out this year.

Lightweight. Also has many good features for both manual and automatic operation. Large zoom range but not as good as a SLR. Not too much background noise.

I love this camera! EVERYTHING about it, The images/ resolution/versatility are ALL fine!!! BUT, the ads say 'anti-shake' technology... able to shoot in low light, slow speeds w/o a tripod, Quite often, I find the light is too low or the speed too slow to have the function active. Right in the instances I thought of that made me choose this camera..these are the times the function is off. (at both the aquarium and the aboretum..no tripods allowed...my 'anti-shake' was of no use) I was disappointed about that. The 'anti-shake' was what made me choose this camera over the others.

Back again.
I have been using this camera for a few months now and love it.
I decided on this camera because it was an "SLR" like camera but you do not have to change lenses to get macro and zoom shots. I was debating on the Nikon digital SLR and may eventually go that route but for now I never miss a shot due to the wrong lens being on.
I would recommend this camera to anyone!

This camera performs better than my film slr, and with 8 megapixels, it offers wonderfully clear, crisp photos at ISO 100 and below. Noise is an issue at higher ISOs, but noise reduction software addresses the issue easily and quickly. Besides, on a film camera, ISOs higher than 200 get grainy, anyway. I chose this camera after seriously considering the the Canon Rebel DSLR, because I wanted a camera to perform like a SLR, but without needing to change lenses to adjust focal length. I would buy this camera again in a heartbeat.
