The Fine Art Flower Photography course was excellent. Tony did a very nice job teaching helpful & practicle techniques, emphasizing correct composition, reminding us of the importance of the best colors regarding subject and background, providing helpful critiques, and doing all this while providing encouragement and thus motivation. I learned much and wish to thank Tony for this wonderful class.

His straight to the point critiques hit the nail on the head and the interaction with the other students in the class was invaluable.

This was a great class. Tony gave the class so many ideas; his lessons were chock-full of images and ways to accomplish similar shots. He was very thorough in his critiques, as well as fair. I felt that when I got a POW from him that it was something I really deserved.Tony is what a good teacher should be; an inspiration. He gave me the inspiration to go off and explore ways to treat floral images that he didn't even show us in class and that I figured out just from what else he shared with us. Some people say that you can't teach creativity, but I certainly think that everyone's creative side can be sparked into action and I would say that Tony did that in all of us!

I have taken a number of Better Photo classes, including one other from Tony, this was a great class. This is clearly at topic about which Tony is passionate and about which he loves imparting knowledge. His lessons were clear and challenging to a photographer. His critiques were spot on every time. I learned so much during the sessions and will use the lessons to help guide me in the future.

I have taken many workshops and photo courses over the years. Tony's class was one of the best I have taken. He offers a challenge to the advanced photographer to improve their work as well as good basic details and instruction for those with less experience. His lessons are well planned and build from lesson one to lesson eight. In addition, everything one learns about shooting flowers can be applied to shooting many other subjects. Being able to view all of the students' work and see all critiques as well as your own adds to the knowledge gained in this course. I put many, many hours into this class, not always under the best of shooting circumstances due to traveling, etc. and found myself always wanting to push myself to the next level to meet the challenges of this course. This was my second course with BetterPhoto.Com and I will continue to be a student with them. I found the course website extremely easy to use and well put together. Thanks to Tony and to BetterPhoto.Com. Donna Sisley

This is the third BetterPhoto.com course I've taken. After each one, I've always said that one was the best-no exception with Tony's course. There was a great deal I appreciated about Tony Sweet's Fine Art Flower Photography. The course was well organized and each lesson built on the previous one. After 8 lessons I believe I can look at an image of a flower, comment on the quality of the image and how it was photographed. More importantly, I've become inspired to do better. I purchased some additional basic equipment and look forward to building on my knowledge. The handouts were very helpful and, in particular, the emails contained specialized information that prompted me to read critiques of other students' work. Also, they were always answered in a timely manner. Thanks, Tony.

I have taken several Betterphoto courses in the past two years. This class with Tony has been exceptional. I can hear you asking, Why? I have learned so many new things. Many of the classes I have taken were redundant (not that that is a bad thing.) This class with Tony was fresh. He made a point to give us new information and he showed us many new and wonderful techniques. I can now even look at some of the more unique and artistically expressive images and actually can figure out how they were created. Not only has my desire to make good images increased but even my desire to view more images has grown. The knowledge I gained in this class has not only been eye opening but exceedingly inspiring. I had been lucky to find time to shoot a couple of times a week. After taking Tony's class I find time to shoot on a daily basis(such inspirational instruction is not easy to find). My biggest problem in the past ( I think) was rushing my work. But because of the creative insight I have gained from taking Tony's class I feel compelled to spend more time on my images (in camera) to get a truly creative result. Jim, this class has been GREAT. The notes and thumbnail photos supplied for each assignment were excellent and made it very easy to follow. This was my first online photography class, and it's thoroughly met my expectations. I had read Tony's books before signing up, and they're very instructive, but the detailed descriptions of techniques, examples, and specific assignments in the lessons were just what I needed. I've found that I learn best by a process of reading about a subject, seeing examples of good results, practicing, and getting honest feedback about what's good, what's better, and what's just missed the mark. Tony's lessons and critiques give all this, plus the benefit of seeing everyone else's work, and his critiques of their photos. I have a whole new catalog of techniques to apply to my photography, and (I think) a better understanding of what "works" and what doesn't. Thanks again, Tony! It's been a fun 8 weeks.

This was my first on line class and I must say it did exceed my expectations. I not only learned from getting my critiques from Tony but learned a lot by reading Tony's critiques of other classmates. I did feel a bit limited by the equipment I had, even though I inquired about this before the class began. I look at my flower photography in a whole different way and can only hope to expand on this the more I shoot. Thanks again Tony for a great class.

I learned alot of interesting tools and techniques, but I feel like I didn't learn enough about the pros and cons of each. So although I now have more things to consider when out shooting (and that was an EXCELLENT part of the class), but what to use when?I loved all the talented work people did .. I felt intimidated to be in the class many times. I felt the feedback to be useful, but limited at the same time. Maybe I was just too in-experienced to be in the class, but I felt a need for "push" in telling what needed to be done. Of course, we learn best by practice, but I was at a loss at time about how to take a picture to the next level for a POW. Tony is very talented, and I was happy to spend the past 8 weeks learning from him.

Tony is a very talented and supportive instructor. This was my first online course and I enjoyed it tremendously. First I had so much fun buying flowers. Then learning new techniques to enhance the subject I love to photograph the most was a stretch for me. Learning to use Photoshop to do more than just cropping, dodging & burning was exciting. There was no super pressure to perform....just do your best following Tony's examples & instruction. Resubmittals were welcome. So glad I took the chance on this course! Thanks Tony & BetterPhoto!

The critiques are great. They point out the good points in the image but more to the point how to improve and what to look out for in future. Thank you Tony, I hope to meet you someday and buy you a beer . Regards Peter Holt

I went into this course with the goal of at least gaining a vision on how to produce fine art flower images. Tony is a highly skilled and creative photographer. The lessons were clear and the example images gave a good supporting visual. I communicated with him through the class Q&A as well as through his website email (for off-topic photo-related questions). He responded with well thought out, informative answers. The feedback he provided not just on my images but on those of the entire class really helped me. They were honest, helpful and encouraging. I exceeded my goal. I not only gained a good understanding of how to approach fine art flower work, I actually produced several images that are bona fide "keepers." The class as a whole produced some incredible images. I will never look at a flower the same way again. Thanks Tony!

I also liked the interaction with all of the members of the class. It brought some discipline in my photography: learning, setting objectives, shooting, and submitting images for a deadline. This will help me to be better structure if I ever decide to earn money from my photography. As constructive comment, I would have like more in depth discussions with the instructor.

This is a great course, Tony. It's giving me a whole new way of 'seeing.'This experience will help make me a better photographer: utilizing the fundamentals of separation, paying attention to backgrounds, experimenting with DOF, trying selective focus, learning creative techniques, and getting the most from my subject. And we aren't even halfway through the course yet! This is great for this time of the year here, when the landscape is often dry and hot. I needed a change of 'focus!' Now, I'll need something to get me through the winter when that time comes!

Goodbye, Farewell and Amen I spent this past Thursday and Friday shooting wild flowers at Fort Mountain State Park in Chatsworth, Georgia. As I set up my shots, I looked for pristine specimens, and I moved my tripod to find uncluttered backgrounds. I searched for opportunities to shoot through material, and I tried to find examples of repetition. I used my gold reflector to add punch to my shots. I used my diffuser to counteract the harsh effects of direct sunlight (at times, I was lying on the ground with my diffuser covering my camera, my tripod, and my head). And when I got home and started working these images for printing, I even used the sandwich methodology on one of my photos. I have learned all of these techniques in this course. More importantly, I have incorporated them in daily practice. Thank you, Tony. And thanks to all of my classmates who were kind enough to critique my photos. I have learned from all of you.
