I own and use many cameras and have a nice collection of pocket 35s from the 70's. I have used a GL, a GT and a GTE from the Minox line and I must say I still use the GT and GTE. The GL, true to the poor realiabilty reputation of older Minoxs, died some years ago but the GT and GTE still work well. Having used Balda, Richo FF-1, Chinon Belami, Cosina CX-2, Olympus XA, Rollei-35, I would have to rate the Minox GTE just behind a Rollei 35S in image quality, equal to a 35T and above all else, including Olympus, but it is smaller, lighter and easier to use that the tank-like Rollei and as such gets used far more. The Tessar type lens is excellent, with Balda and Olympus follwing close behind. (the Cosina CX was a big dissapointment). it is the Pocket camera I use when not lugging around my large, motor driven Maxxum 9. The GTE is a great pocket camera for those who eschew digital.

Good news, Bad News: The good news is that this is one great lens, nice design that set the trend for all pocket cameras in the 70's and 80's from Japan. Image quality as good as the Rollie 35T from that era.
The bad news is that this is one delicate, expensive(compared to others) little camera with a bad reputation for the shutter and electronics failing in older models. I have gone through three (ML, 2 GLs) and currently have a GT. Still, when it works, the results will amaze.

A very special camera for its tiny size and sharp 35mm f2.8 lens. About the size of a pack of cigarettes, it makes a full-size 35mm negative! Unfortunately, the lens distance setting is manual. For most subjects this is of no import, but when you get close to a subject that requires a wide aperture, sometimes the focus is not "on the money."

Light, compact and top quality. Super sharp lens, very accurate meter, virtually silent to use.

In spite of all the new digital trends, this classic and genial little camera should always be in your pocket: it will repay the little price you paid for.
