Takes great sharp pictures. Build quality is excellent. Its a beast of a lens though. My wife has a hard time taking hand held pictures with it because of the weight.

A fast lens with excellent focus abilities. Clear as a bell and great in low light! 5 stars for clarity, fast focus and color!

Had a Sigma 70-200mm APO lens which was pretty sharp. Finally, able to upgrade to the Canon 70-200mm f2.8. What a change!!! I enjoyed the Sigma 70-200mm a bunch and never thought I'd take the plunge to Canon. I wish I would have done this a couple of years ago. The Canon 70-200mm is shockingly fast and quiet. Pictures snap in so quickly, you wont know if it you're not paying close attention... I would recommend this lens in a heartbeat if money isnt a factor. Have not tried the "IS" version but I've heard both ways on that lens vs. the non "IS" lens. You wont be disappointed...
