35mm autofocus, autoexposure single-lens reflex with focal-plane shutter, built-in flash and built-in motor drive. Was not sold in the USA.
The design of the EOS 3000 is based on the popular EOS 1000 series, making it light, small and easy to operate. However, the major specifications are similar to those of the EOS 500 the main difference is that the built-in flash requires manual pop-up, whereas the EOS 500 flash pops-up automatically in low light

i like the camera simply because the images and colours come out exactly the way i want them too. there isnt ever the "worse than i expected, or i didn't expect it to be soo good" results from this camera.

I like everything about the performance of the camera! I find I can get some high quality photos from it but I find it difficult to capture night shots.

I have had the camera one week and am still learning where all of the bells & whistles are. I am well pleased with the initial photos I have taken. The 20D replaces my Olympus E20 as my primary camera. I am excited with the different lens options available. Initially I have gone with the 18 - 125mm F3.5-5.6 and the 70 - 300mm F4.0 - 5.6. I have gotten great results whith both lens.

It was given to me as a gift. So for something I didn't have to pay for, I can't complain at all.
Its automatic, which is a change from a fully manual and older alternative. But all the things which an older manual can do, this one can handle.
There are many accessories for this model and it is lighter and easier to manage than an older manual SLR. As far as I know there is no equivalent of a BULB setting on this model. The longest exposures I have done are 30 seconds. But I didnt bother to read the manual! 30 seconds has been quite sufficient however.
I've taken some stunning shots with it, but it is never a camera which enables a person to take good shots; it is ones eyes and how one sees the world around them.

I love my Canon 3000 it takes amazing pictures and does everything as promised. I have had my camera 5 years now, but am just learning finally how to work all the bells and whistles!
For an SLR in a Digital world you can't beat it, and the picture prove it. Thanks Canon!

Its easy to operate and works very well. I could handle with one hand easily as the shutter button is placed exactly where it shd be. Also the grip.... its highly comfortable and i enjoy it a lot. I wish the flash could be improved further as me not completely satisfied with night photography.

A great SLR for learning on. Reasonably cheap with all the auto features you need to get started, as well as the manual control you can use more as you learn. Lightweight and quite robust. Will.

By far the best of all the cameras I own. The noise level, is so well controlled that pictures taken in RAW mode, at 800 iso, and processed correctly show virtually no noise printed on an 8 X 10 inch print at 300 dpi.

I was traveling to Rome, Italy for my work. It was my first time overseas and I had brought along a cheap compact 35 mm camera. I had my pictures developed at a shop near my hotel and I have to admit that they looked like everyone elses pictures that I have ever seen. It was time for a new camera. I shopped around and decided on the canon eos 3000. I spent all of my freetime walking and taking pictures. I especially love the night time photos. The next weekend, I bought a 75-300 mm lens and a compact tripod. It is by far the best money I have ever spent.

I love this camera. I started out several years ago with a Canon AE-1. It was lost in a river. So when I got ready to replace it, I went with this Canon, it just seems to meet all of my needs, and is easy to operate.

reasonably light weight unit, and surprisingly hard wearing. I've taken it all overvasai with few hiccups. The main one being a random pop-up flash and autofocus working/not working as it felt the urge on the 28-80mm lens in the first 3 months.
