I have had two Rioch camera's. The first one my brother accidently dropped on to a hard chair. No scratches or dents on camera. It would not work from that point on. Returned to camera store where I bought it to have repaired. They told me it would cost more to have it sent out for repair then to buy a knew one. I liked the camera. So I bought a new one. I had the new one for about two years. I did not use the camera heavily. One day while on vacation of course, the camera would sometimes expose and sometimes would not. So I put a new battery in. the same problem. My brother also had a Rioch. I asked him if he had to change batteries often. He said no. I told him that mine always needed new batteries. So again I took another trip to the camera store to have repaired. Again the same answer. It would cost $80.00 to send it out just to see what was wrong with the camera. They said they had a new one on sale for $99.00. I said no more of this model Rioch's. I don't need to purchase a new camera every two years. I bought a Nikon N-70 with a promaster lens, used from e-bay. It was 3 yrs. old,not used much. The camera is in excellant condition. I got a real deal on this one. I could not believe what the gentleman sold me this camera plus lens, two filters & bag for. He sold it because he bought a digital. Why he did not keep this camera for a backup is beyond me. But I can say I did get excellant pictures with this Rioch. But the two I owned just had poor durability. I am not rough on my camer's. I use the Nikon all the time, but I'm not rough with it. I know other people who have had this model Ricoh and have had no problem. Kathleen Struckle
