Even though it has since been usurped by the D60 and the 10D, I have never regretted buying this camera. The simple fact is that I have enjoyed using this fantastic digital camera more than any other.
If you are a Canon shooter and want to upgrade to a professional level digital SLR with many creative options, check this camera out or look into the more recent models in Canon's digital SLR line.

Very good intermediate camera...meaning it's not a digital Rebel, not is it a FF (full frame) pro camera. It is a 1.6 crop camera and quite good at what it does. It is not heavy like the full frame camera and I love that. However, viewing the LCD screen in sunlight is almost impossible, and since I live in a usually very sunny location, shooting an outdoor wedding and quickly checking my shots can be quite a challenge. Other than that it's very good.

Upgraded from Canon 350D last year, and I love it. Very easy to use, love the thumb wheel. Take time to read the manual and find out what this camera can do, it's awesome! Please can BP change it from being a D30, to a 30D, which is, I think what we're all talking about. The D30 was from looooooooong ago.

30 D is a fabulous camera, fast efficient out standing image quality. I used as primary my back up is 20D. Both sharing some of the same futures but 5D’s large LCD, spot metering, 100.000 shutter actuations better focus can’t be beat, I use the 5D for a week or so and I feel much exited because all my investment is on the L series 2.8’s no third party this way I know there is no cheating with my passion. If you like you can check my work; I will post some of 30D soon. Regards, Harry

This camera is great.I don't understand how people can rate the camera as a 2 out of 5 and then say that it is too dark through the lens or that it doesn't have enough zoom. Hello, you are rating an SLR camera...the camera doesn't have any zoom...and it's dark because it has a cap on. Take the cap off and put a good lens on and you'll be fine. Buy the camera....it's great!

Though not my first digital camera, it is my first digital SLR. I am coming from a Canon 7e, so I expect the same type of performance technically - along with the ability to use lenses I have purchased over the years. What I did not expect was all of the control through programming like variation of settings for White Balance and simple things like "back lighting" the control panel.
Not to knock other manufacturers, but I have stuck with canon for it's obvious ability to deliver quality products as a less than reasonable price. As always, the price is worth it! Canon continues to remain a very formidable cometitor to those dedicated to a given "camp."
