I haven't shot much with this lens yet, but my results so far seem okay. Some purple fringing was noticeable, but only if I blew up the image, which I don't plan on doing anyway. Did a lot of research before buying and chose this over the Sigma and Quantaray. Pretty much paid retail (about $170) on it, but that's cool. I mainly bought this lens so that I can go to town with flower shots once spring kicks in. Spring in San Diego's Balboa Park is a big deal to me. Also, I can't wait to take it to the zoo. The build quality is pretty solid (light, but solid), but I'm not even going to compare it to my big bro's 70-200 f4L. I'll probably post an update on this review once I've used it more in the next few months.
