I have used probably 30 different underwater cameras / housed cameras to compare. I find the Nikonos V is without a doubt my favorite. It is small (compared to housed 35mm cameras). The lenses are sharp, 35mm, and 15mm, and, it is extremely rugged. Unfortunately, Nikon has discontinued making them. That's fine, I'll keep using it until it dies, then...... who knows, maybe my D70 will get a housing.

This camera is no longer made; however, it is the best underwater camera ever made.

The fundamental series of cameras for underwater use. Love the small size and quality & range of lenses.

This camera has been around for a number of years and is no longer being manufactured by Nikon. It's was one of the favorites of underwater photographers in the pre-digital era and is still widely used. It can be used by professionals as well as amateurs.

This is a great camera but -let's face it - it ain't easy! If this is your first time with underwater photography, wet your chops on a single-use underwater camera or use a EWA marine soft case. This is definitely a great camera; when I used it in Monterey, California, I had a great time and enjoyed the obviously high-quality of the equipment. However, I needed a lot more practice; my pictures were not my best ;^)
