The Nikon 4500 Coolpix has some great features. The swivel design is a nice touch, and it takes great macro shots..very clear and detail rich. It is a well built camera, and has many shooting modes. It lags between shots, and does not support RAW, other than those two things, it's a fine digital camera.

I like that the camera is fairly user-friendly (Mode options, Menu, etc.). My favorite aspect of the camera, and the reason my husband and I bought it, is its ability to take great macro shots. What I do not like about the camera is its shutter lag. When we bought it several years ago, the price was about at the top of our range, so we were thankful to get it. However, when we have a baby and begin needing more quality "action" shots, I will consider investing in a camera that excels in that area. Overall, I am enjoying the experience of "seeing" my world through the lens of our Nikon as an amateur photographer.

I used this camera extensively in Iraq, it was severely abused, and yet always performed flawlessly. Very heavy duty, very good image quality, excellent macro capability. My group had 22 of these, and after a year of heavy use the only failure was 1 CF card eject button. It is too bad that Nikon seems to have abandoned this style of point and shoot.

As little as I know about cameras, I love mine! I love the twist function so I can usually capture images at all angles which is very convenient. Bad points? I just broke the piece off the lens cap attaching it to the string so I will likely lose the lens cap very soon!

The only BIG downsides are the time taken to focus, and lag while saving the images and wish it was 7/8 Megapixels. I bought it for the kind of features/flexibility available at that price(I got it even cheaper in a combo deal). Menu system is ok, very linear, so sometimes setting the Camera for a different situation takes a few seconds extra...

I like my camera very much and have gotten quite a lot of great pictures with it. Before I received this camera as a gift, I used a point & shoot Nikon and I was very happy with the pictures I took with it, until the day I dropped it! In the past, I had an old SLR Nikon EM with interchangable lenses and filters. I loved that old camera but over the years, I resorted to the point & shoot camera. I had a little problem sometimes with focus with the Nikon EM. I am thinking about purchasing a Nikon D70 Digital SLR camera. Hopefully, that would be the best of two worlds.

This camera has been a great camera. The macro lens is excellent for close ups, the different shooting modes offer a wide range of choices depending on what you are shooting, the conditions, and subject. I always get clear, detailed photos with this camera, and I really like the way you can rotate the lens body. It's small and light wieght, with a rechargable battery. It's truely a nice little camera.

Love it as a point and shoot. I own other cameras but this by far is my favorite camera when I just want something small to throw in my pocket and take a few snap shots in my travels. I also like the abilty to switch it to B&W. It wont do everthing that the big stuff will do but you wont be let down whe it comes to a point and shoot.

I love the convenience of a digital camera. I like the panoramic assist and the variety of options available to me even though I haven't had a chance to use all of them yet. Many are self explanatory and being short on time that is a time saver for me. I do get very frustrated with the lag befor each shot.

I am very happy with this camera. I am a macro freak and I love the close up capabilities of this camera (3/4" close focus). I haven't been able to figure out manual focus. Waiting for auto focus can cause shots to be lost. Shutter lag is a problem with this camera as with most digital cameras. The auto modes are great. It is nice to use the museum mode and not have to worry about accidental flash firings. The roting body is great for crowds and surreptitious photos when people don't know you are taking a pic.

In this class, the 4500 is full of features and captures good color. The add on 2x and wide adapters work well also. I combine it with an SB28 Nikon Speedlight most often covered with a diffuser head. The delay in the shutter is pretty distracting, so with the advent of some pretty well priced true SLRs, I'll probably step up.

I know that there are good and bad about everything but I guess the thing I would like to have is a little more control over available light shots. I love this type of photography and when I am shooting I can't always over ride my flash.

I did not think I would like digital cameras. My wife gave me this as a birthday gift. I really like it. I would say I love it, but now after a year or so, I would like to upgrade to a digital SLR. The images themselves are beautiful. However what I like best is the editing using digital imaging software. I currently have one main program I use, about 5 smaller programs and I am testing Photoshop CS.

The size, lightness and excellent macro support are the most attractive features of this camera. Unfortunately the lens is slow (particularly in tele position) and since the noise level is quite high, it is difficult to shoot unless there's plenty of light. A good camera for travelling.

I love the swivel design of the older coolpix digital cameras. I find that I can get more natural facial expressions in candid photos when I hold the camera horizontal near my waist while looking down at the LCD. Since the camera isn't up by my face the subjects don't realize that I'm taking shots! It's also great for taking photos while holding the camera way up high, facing the LCD downward. It's an easy way to change the perspective and be creative. This is my travel with friends kind of camera.

The Nikon Coolpix 4500 was my second digital camera. I love the swivel lens, the ease of use and the quality of pics. I purchased this camera for ease of use during our backpacking trips. It has been a Godsend on keeping my husband and I together during our hike--he is not a photographer! However, it has recently been discontinued for some unknown reason.

I enjoy my Nikon 4500. I have only had a few months but find it easy to use. I find the swivel lens usefull when photographing flowers and insects. I would prefer a longer telephoto lens but am enjoying working with what I have. I recently purchased the 2X teleconverter for it. I will be practicing with this lens during the course.

I like it's compact size and light weight, for when I feel like "traveling light" or remaining unobtrusive. I LOVE it's swivel body for those awkward angle shots (ie. "worm's eye view"). It doesn't seem to devour battery power too fast. I love and adore it's macro capabilities. I don't like how slow it is to power up, or to focus in relatively low light situtions. Recording data to the memory card is acceptable up to the largest JPEG size, but takes up to 25 seconds for a TIFF!!! For the price, it's a good little camera for up to a serious amateur, and reasonably user friendly for a beginner.

This camera is wonderful. It has an enormous amount of creative control with a wide range of aperatures and shutter speeds. The batteries last for a good period of time and the swivel body design is extremely useful. I will say that the LCD monitor tends to dirty easily with fingerprints and whatnot. Overall a great camera.

I have take more than 1,000 images. The photographic conditions have been in the bright Australian sun, outback, beach, people and tabletop; using available light, built in flash and the Nikon SS24 and 26 Flash Units. The results have been extremely good with colours recorded accurately. Some care needs to be taken with close-ups (< 50cm) as the focus can be a challenge. Either on Auto or Aperature priority trhe camera is easy to use. Depth of field takes some adjustment when compared with the traditional SLR but time and practice helps; so does keeping notes of your shots. The off camera flash connection cap is easy to lose, take care. Also the digital viewing sreen can mark with skin oils but that is no different to all other digital camers I've used. I use the Flash Card adaptor in to a Apple Powerbook. Downloading is easy and fast. The digital images can be viewed easily using Photoshop or similar software. This is the second digital camera I've owned and one of about six I have used. It is easy to use, comes with an easily followed instruction book and produces high quality results. The battery is long lasting and recharges quickly. Overall a good buy.
