Charlotte, thank you very much for very detailed critiques of my images and answering the questions, you helped me to understand the camera better and prowoke more interest in photography. I have had my Rebel for 4 years and just now, by taking this course, learned how to use the creative mode settings. I will definitely be using them all the time now. Before taking the course I just set the camera to full auto everything and called it good. Not anymore. I thought the feedback each week was very helpful and informative. I learned about the different creative modes and the focusing, but I am still confused about many things. I would have liked more hands-on interaction and feedback. I thought the critiques were very helpful although after reading all of them I felt like the instructor had mostly positive things to say about every photo and therefore I wasn’t entirely sure I was getting accurate feedback or if it was “sugar coated”. There was a lot of reading and I felt I had to read the lessons multiple times before I was able to retain the information. I also ended up watching lessons posted on you tube to supplement the lessons. My suggestion to improve this course would be to offer videos explaining the topics (i.e. aperture, ISO, shutter speed, etc) to help students grasp these concepts, therefore it would be more like a classroom setting rather than just reading a book on your own. I loved the concise easy-to-follow directions and feedback Charlotte provided for this course. Patricia Altner member since: 4/17/2012	Rating: 4 out of 5 No course can be everything to everybody, but as a longtime point and shoot person I certainly learned quite a bit about using my Canon Rebel in modes other than automatic. Each lesson required 2 photos and I did my darndest to do what was asked. Charlotte's critiques were so helpful. For me that was the best part of the course. A lot of information on basic photography was covered. Lessons 1 & 2 worked for me but not 3 & 4 - way out of my depth there. Later I'll go back and try to assimilate the info in smaller chunks. Charlotte does write clearly and was always responsive. I might take another course thru BetterPhotos but they are a bit pricey. 6/8/2012 12:42:30 PM

I was hesitant to take an online course, but this course was wonderful and Charlotte Lowrie knows her stuff. I was impressed with the length of each class and the extremely helpful and constructive feedback. I learned through the other's photo critiques as well. I really liked the time between the courses too. One of the great features is the fact that I could log on at any hour of the day to read the lesson. I am happy to have the lessons to refer to. Charlotte was so helpful and I never felt that I couldn't ask a question. Very motivating. I will definitely take another course and will recommend to other photographers. 6/5/2012 3:53:17 AM
